Sorry I've been lacking, summer is a busy time!

Summer vacation is a really busy time for me and I know I haven't been keeping up with my blog. I've just been extremely busy and have had no time to sit down and do a post and I don't like to half-fast my work. I've been hanging out with friends trying to find a job, sleepovers, late nights out and I was in NYC for 2 weeks taking some fashion college courses. I met some amazing girls at LIM college and had a great experience. Am I going to go there for actual college courses? Probably not, I don't want to have a fashion degree under my belt I'd rather have a business or even journalism degree. I plan on getting my MBA but thats a long time away so lets focus on now! I'm going into senior year of high school September 6th which is just around the corner (geez I remember my first post was even before I was done with junior year, oh how time flies). Anyways this is going to be a really busy year so I'm really sorry if I don't post as much as I'd like to but I'm definitely going to post 1-3 times a week, maybe even more! I'd like to know what you would like to see, what kinds of posts. So if you have some suggestions or ideas feel free to comment!

Designer for less?!

Alright, so many of you probably already know about these websites, but just in case you don't I'm here to fill you in. They are three different websites, Hautelook, Gilt and Ruelala; they all sell designer goods for less and sometimes even more than 50% off! On either of the websites you'll find fashion, beauty, jewelry, home furnishings, food, travel and there is even a section for men. You do need to sign up and for Ruelala you get put on a waiting list, but honestly your invitation comes within a week so no worries. The sales do start and end within a week or two and things sell out fast, so get what you want while supplies last! On another note, what I love so much about these websites is that I find things I would have never looked for on my own. You never know what you might find, so come on and join!

BOLD boots for the fall.

Alright, yes I know that fall is way away but fashion is always a season ahead. One thing you will find out about me is that I don't care what season we're in, if I find something that is for another season, I will buy it regardless if I can wear it now or I have to wait a while. I found these two boots online and fell into shoe heaven. Today, Wednesday, I just received my Irregular Choice order in the mail. Ecstatic I opened the UPS box only to find an amazing shoe box that had a cartoon character on it and tons of colors. Then I opened that box and there were my boots, beautiful and all. I tried them on only to find that they did run smaller than I expected but they still fit. I'm usually a 10-12 or 40-42 depending on the cut, heel and overall make of the shoe. I ordered a 10 in these and yes an 11 would have fit much better, but a girls got to do what a girls got to do, to have cute shoes. Unfortunately, I have to return my pair because there was a rip on the inside of the boot, as well as the plastic heel insert was broken. One other thing I'm not to happy about is that the heel of my foot doesn't fully sit on the sole. No it's not because they're too small, but its just how the shoe is made, I've read other reviews saying the same thing happened to them. Not only that, but the wedge caves in like a crescent making it a little bit difficult to balance and nearly impossible to walk on uneven surfaces (i.e. Cobblestone). The suede lining, while making the boot cosy also makes it very difficult to slip your foot into with socks on. One good thing about the wedge though is that it's just around 4 inches and has a 2 inch platform, making the arch only 2 inches high. Oh and one thing that the pictures deceive you of, is the gold tinsel that is sewn throughout the tweed material. Hopefully they have another pair in stock, otherwise I'm going to have to get something else. As for the Vancouver by Sam Edelman, my other order, is said to get to my house by the end of tomorrow, Thursday. I read many reviews saying they run large, so I'm hoping that the 10 doesn't fit like some of his other shoes, small and narrow. I would definitely not be afraid to wear these booties during the snowy winter because of the tire track bottoms, which help keep your feet on the ground from the traction. I'll update this post tomorrow after receiving my order and give you all the details. UPDATE: The SE's arrived today and there was no damage to them, thank gosh. The shoe is made really well, it's extremely comfortable and I feel very stable because of the traction. The hardware is very sturdy and seems like it's going to last me a while. They do run large because typically a 10 is tight on me and I usually have some struggle getting my foot into heels this high and that size, but I had no issues here even with socks on! The only thing I can complain about is that after a little bit my foot hurts from the high arching but no pain no gain, I probably just have to break them in like all of my other heels. Overall I love these shoes and plan on getting the military green color soon as well.

In need for some new booties? But aren't you tired of the plain and simple styles they always come in? Well here are some HOT booties that will kick you in your "bootie". First off there is the Dainton, simple black calf leather, yes, but has a rocked out sole featuring the new and upcoming "zig zag" effect. This gorgeous bootie stands a good 5 inches with a 1 inch platform, making you stand only on 4 inches and it has a hidden platform. Can't stand how booties are super sexy but always have a stick thin heel? Well the Wilma gives it all, super high height reaching up to 5 and a half inches! BUT, it has a 1 and a half inch platform so your poor strained feet only have to arch 4 inches. But thats not the best thing of all, the best thing is the chunky heel. That chunky heel will provide you will more leverage to help you stand, so you don't have to worry about snapping this heel. Lastly, the Tina is a 5 inch heel with a 1 and a half inch hidden platform, so your feet are only standing a mere 3 and a half inches. It has a zipper on the outside which helps assist you to get your foot in and out of the bootie. It also has that "rocker, grunge" look to it because of its silver pyramid studding. These would definitely look good with a leather jacket and some light washed ripped denims.

Browsing around online is always something I love to do, this is one example why. Not even looking for some new jewelry, just merely shoe shopping, when an advertisement for rings popped up on the website. I clicked it because it looked interesting and I figured I could use some new rings. The two rings shown above caught my eye and I fell in love. The Knuckle Armor ring I recommend to wear on your pinky because it looks best and the ring itself doesn't give you much bending leeway. That being said it might be hard to wear on a finger that is often used and needs the ability to fully bend. As for the Plated Aztec ring I recommend wearing it on your middle finger because it is a longer ring and doesn't engulf your whole finger which is what might happen if you wear the ring on a shorter finger. The silver rings in both styles seem to be more on the "straight up silver" side where they're crisp and clean, while the gold rings seem to have more of an antique and worn out look to them. Personally I love them both but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with gold.

Getting to know me.

Alright as promised I'm going to let you all know a little bit more about me. So right now you know me as JV. I'm from Long Island, New York but plan on moving into Manhattan in a year or two. I'm 17 years old and will be a senior in high school next year which means I'm graduating with the Class of 2012. I plan on going to college in Manhattan but California near L.A. has always been a big thought and option. I'm really big into fashion weather it ranges from haute couture like YSL, Louboutin, Dior, Chanel or average designers like Express, Aldo, Bebe, Victoria's Secret. Beauty is another aspect in my life which I'm obsessed with. Right now I'm really big into skin care and trying to find the perfect skin care system for me so I can have flawless skin (I don't have acne but I do get the occasional break out). I need something that will keep my oily t-zone under control while keeping the rest of my face hydrated and moisturized. Home and lifestyle is just as important in my life as fashion is. I absolutely love shopping for furniture and decor for my house. Weather it's a vanilla lavender scented candle, ruffled pillows, faux flowers or bigger pieces like bed frames, armoires and night stands, home and lifestyle will always have a place in my heart. Nature and scenic places have always caught my eye. It amazes me how beautiful the environment could really be when there aren't landfills, garbage scattered everywhere, buildings at every corner, gas filled air and unclean facilities. Take a moment, look around yourself and you'll be amazed at how the smallest things that you wouldn't normally notice, turn out to be the most beautiful things.

The start of my blog.

Alright so I'm finally starting my longly awaited blog. I have been procrastinating on creating one only because I didn't think I could keep up with it and I really didn't have an idea of what and where I wanted to go with it. So pretty much I'm going to be writing blog posts about fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle and yes the occasional nature/scenic genre. As of now I'm going to be signing my blogs by J or JV (I haven't quite decided yet, but the letters obviously stand for my initials). Eventually I might go by my name but for security reasons (not that I'm famous or anything) I'd rather just keep that private for now. Another thing that will eventually change are the pictures. As of now I'm going to just take photos of clothing and beauty items online that I'd like to write about and review, as well as using a little photoshop and layering to try and make them as attractive as can be. Eventually when I purchase my Canon DSLR 5D Mark II/III and get all of the other equipment I need to professionally take photos and edit them nicely, then I will be taking photos that I personally shot. Well that's all for now and I will be doing another blog post on getting to know me in as much detail I can go in without putting anything to personal out there.
